Construction-savvy Plangrid adds to Autodesk toolset

Bill Smith - Plangrid president, global ops

Plangrid has been expanding into the UK since 2017 with internationalisation now largely complete, and the solution now more about workflows than ‘sheet’ management. Company executive Bill Smith also identified how Plangrid complemented Autodesk’s design strengths. On 18 October 2018, around a month before Autodesk announced its US$875m acquisition of Plangrid, I talked to Bill …

Plangrid report highlights industry inertia

Plangrid productivity report graphic

Plangrid has expanded from north America into Europe, and is now aiming to improve construction productivity in the UK – its survey suggests the industry has a long way to go. In June 2014, I wrote about a then recently-launched California startup called Plangrid. The San Francisco company offered a simple-to-use, mobile-oriented platform to manage …

Catching up with Kahua

Kahua kstore

Kahua’s US expansion has seen it win a major deal with Balfour Beatty’s US arm, securing business from a customer that used Constructware – originally developed by Kahua’s founders. Newforma gets connected

Jim Forester (Newforma)

Silos (both company and IT) have long inhibited collaboration in construction. Newforma’s ‘Connector’ strategy seeks to break them down. I recently wrote (16 August: Newforma now playing cloud catch-up?) about Newforma’s Cloud Services initiative, which has seen the vendor expand its extranet-type capabilities, complementing its original core on-premise, behind-the-firewall application. I spoke last Thursday to Newforma CEO …
