A Newforma update

Having written about Newforma’s burgeoning operation in Australia in December, I talked with Ian Howell, CEO of Newforma, last week. The business, which provides both on-premise and cloud-based AEC information management services, is experiencing growth in Australasia, and continuing to invest in its mobile capabilities, he said. Newforma in Australia On the Australasia subject, Ian …

Newforma eyes Australia opportunities

The Australasian market for construction collaboration technologies is becoming ever more competitive. As well as home-grown providers such as Aconex, QA’s Teambinder, ProjectCentre (now part of RIB) and Incite (seemingly mainly used on Leighton Holdings projects now), the region has also been targeted by UK-founded firms including Asite (it tripled its Australasian revenues last year), Conject, McLaren …

US-based vendor Newforma has done a U-turn on its attitude to SaaS construction collaboration. Some six years ago (June 2006), I wrote my first Extranet Evolution blog post about Newforma Project Center after reading some provocative statements about the merits of cloud-based construction collaboration solutions from Newforma executives Bob Batcheler and Ian Howell. Former mindset …

AECbytes writes on collaboration

Just a quick note for those interested in developments in the US collaboration market: AECbytes Lachmi Khemlani has just written about Collaboration, Project Management, and Project Information Management Solutions in AEC. The article looks at Newforma, Attolist and Cadac’s SharePoint-based Organice. Of the three, only Attolist is a genuine Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offering. Tweet

Share and share alike

Jerry Laiserin ‘s latest AEC Insight column at Cadalyst usefully segments the US market for online plan rooms and what he calls project collaboration networks (PCNs) – ie: construction collaboration technologies as they are described in the UK – as in NCCTP, for example. In Share and share alike (which, in passing, rightly describes the …
